I was looking yesterday at houses around the 3000 block of N. Nagle (think that is officially Belmont Cragin) and just getting around this area was a pain. So much traffic! How do people put up with it? I live in Rogers Park near the lake and I thought it was bad enough there. It also seems so far from an expressway. Am I wrong? Does it take 30 minutes just to get to a grocery store there?

A better question: How can anyone live in Chicago and not understand the traffic created by the 10M people who live there?

Traffic in Belmont Cragin isn't horrible by any measure unless we are talking about right after school. If you're looking at houses by 3000 N. Nagle, you are basically right across the street from Steinmetz high school. Were you driving around at about 2:30 - 3:00? It's a big school and you'll definitely feel a rush of traffic when school lets out.

Groceries are easy and NOT 30 minutes away. There is a Jewel-Osco, Target, and Aldi all right down the block in the Brickyard (along with many other stores). You can easily walk.

Expressway access from that part of town is pretty damn lousy, though.
