As of recently, my friend and I are considering moving to humboldt park from indianapolis. If this matters, my friend and I are both white. I have heard that some of the areas are sketchy, but i have also heard that some of the areas are safer depending on location. So we found a place that would be perfect, and I was wondering what the area is like. Its on the corner of washtenaw and lemoyne. Its closer to california and north. So south of north, and east of humboldt boulevard. Thank you for your replies.

Burglaries, robberies, shootings, standard gang activity. It's not the worst and shootings don't happen very frequently but these things do go down. A friend of mine lived around there for a couple years. His place got burglarized and there was a drive by right around Le Moyne and Washtenaw where a 13 year old got shot. I live pretty close to there too, around Evergreen and Rockwell and I've never had any problems with anyone. None of my roommates or numerous guests have had issues either.

This area is very block to block. That area that you're talking about is a little rougher than say Campbell and Hirsch. The farther north you go, the better the neighborhood gets. I would recommend finding a place north of North ave but you just might come out fine living there. It also depends on your comfort level with these things and how street savvy you can be. If you take precautions, you'll probably be fine there.
