Any good doctors for seniors? (Waukegan, Gurnee: suburb, medical, rated)

My mom is in need of a good general-care physician. She's been with the same group of doctors for many, many years and they are useless.

Anyone you know of in Lake County (Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Gurnee) that is good with elder patients and covers all the bases - lab testing, nutrition, exercise, and gives out GOOD advice - even when it's not wanted. She is losing weight and is stubborn and I'm getting really worried. She'll listen to a good physician but so far no luck with her current docs - they just get her in/out and "here's the bill."

She's on medicare.

You could contact a local senior center who's staff or social workers may be able to provide some guidance on a gerontologist or other good primary care physician.

My mother-in-law went to see a doctor that was superb at listening to her ... and then proceeding with testing and etc. He actually held her hand and spent time with her .. nothing short of a miracle in this day and age. Unfortunately, he is located in the far south suburb of Channahon ... so I'm pretty sure it's unlikely you will consider him because of his distance away. My wife took my mother-in-law well over a half hour drive to see this man on a regular basis as he demonstrated such caring for her mom. She felt it worth it to make the trip. The doctor's name is Dr. Gustavo Pedraza. (815) 467-4114. He is a fairly young man, but an old-fashioned doctor. As someone that has taken part in the caregiving of elderly parents, I understand your concerns. Again, I know this doctor is a long drive ... but I saw that you had received no suggestions and decided to pass the info on so you had someone to consider.
