Hi!

I'm trying to figure out an inexpensive and easy way to get to and from O'Hare airport from Oak Lawn without having to leave my own car at the airport. Any suggestions?

Easy: cab. About $30/each way if you call ahead.

Cheap: CTA, but about triple the time involved...

Thanks, Chet! I hadn't thought of a cab for the whole way. The airport shuttle I found is charging $60 EACH way!

I would rather take the CTA and save $55 or more.

If you call a suburban taxi service, they have fixed rates from O'Hare. That is significantly cheaper than a Chicago city taxi that you get from the airport. The suburban cab companies like American Taxi and 303 Taxi are very reliable.

Thanks for the suggestions chitown but I just looked up the rates and from OL to ORD it's $47 (american) and $51 (303). Pretty pricy! I'm going to keep looking...

Oak Lawn to O'Hare is a 30 mile trip. It's $2.25 when you enter the cab plus $1.80 for every mile. That will make the trip at least $55 + tip. If you are absolutely sure you want to take a cab, go with American Taxi, which will save you about $10 with tip.

I usually fly out of Midway, but on the few occasions when I needed to use O'Hare I took the Tri-State Coach bus. They a have a (free) park and ride lot nearby in Crestwood, with a $40 round trip fare to O'Hare.

Thanks Prairie, the coach bus is seeming like a good option. My only worry is leaving the car outside for 3 weeks!

How much does it cost from Tinley Park, IL to O'Hare on a Thursday and return on that following Tuesday.
