Hey guys, I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this but I'll ask anyway. I just moved to Chicago almost two weeks ago from NC, and I'm up by Loyola. I used to ride and compete down in NC, but I gave away my horse this past spring knowing I wouldn't be able to keep her while I'm in school up here. Does anyone know of any riding facilities and where they might be located? I've been looking around online too. My only concern is that I left my car at home, so I don't know if I'll still be able to make it out to certain facilities unless I can get there by public transit or my bike. It might be a few months before I'm financially ready to start riding again anyway, but I do miss it and if I can atleast find somewhere to ride or help here and there that would be great. If you guys can help me at all that would be great. As far as riding, I used to do eventing down in NC, but any place up here that is a nice and safe facilty that does lessons would be perfect.

There's a horse riding facility in Morton Grove. Corner of Golf/Austin. You can take the Red Line to Howard Station or since you're by Loyola maybe you can ride a bike or bus to Howard Station then take the train to Skokie Swift. Howard Station to Skokie Swift is maybe like 15-20 min ride. The horse riding facility is a couple of miles from the Skokie Swift. Don't know what type of public transportation you can take from there but if you take a bike with you its a couple miles ride.

Howard Station > Skokie Swift > west on Dempster (Left) > north (Right) on Austin > Corner of Golf/Austin

Freedom Woods Equestrian Center
