Okay, I have found a few houses on the internet that I might like to see. I need acreage for a couple of horses and have looked at Wayne. The questions I have are regarding traffic. How bad is the traffic from Wayne into Broadview. Obviously we will make the drive a couple of times before we purchase a home, but need a good place to start. The hours are somewhat flexible, so we can adjust to help with some traffic. What are we talking, maybe 45 minutes on a good day?

Thanks for your help.

I think that you will find the traffic from Broadview to Wayne to be better in some ways than other commutes. The odds of bad traffic ties on North Ave or other parallel routes has DECRESED over the years as there are more alternative both in terms of things like 355, expanded train service, safer intersections, and even expansion of offices in that part of DuPage Co.

45 minutes may be optimistic some days (like bad weather or when kids are out of school) but should not to far off on MOST days.

Good Luck!

There is no real good way for you to get to Broadview you will find. I think the easiest is route 59 south til I-88 maybe. And route 59 traffic can really be hellish at times. Or just take route 38 in, or butterfield road when I-88 has an accident or something. I would think if you go during peak rush hour, it is gonna be an hour plus daily. I used to go from that are to Oakbrook by the mall (jorie blvd) daily and I never got under one hour. Snowstorms - count on 2 hours. Heavy rain - 1-1/2 hours. Can you work from home one day a week?

You may be better off getting acreage directly west out on I-88 as Wayne is farther north...

Thank you. We are moving for husbands job, and Chicago is bigger than anywhere we have lived before and we like living in rural areas. We just need to keep the commute to about/less than an hour, but also keep me happy, which equates to keeping horses at home, and the kids need a good school zone.

Thanks.

We are coming up soon and I can drive all the routes and check out the areas. I looked along the I-88 as far as Aurora, but Aurora did not really appeal to me. But I may consider going further that way as an hour on the interstate affords more area than on the side roads.

We did consider St Charles, but was told that would be a really bad commute.

Where the horse properties are in st. charles township, would be farther west than wayne.
There is no acreage to speak of, in st. charles town proper.

So yeah, worse commute. Farther west towns to consider along the I-88 would be Sugar Grove I believe.
