It is possible that we will be moving to IL for a job in Hebron. I am wondering where to look for a home that meets these qualities:
-Good schools
-On or near water
-Within a 40 minute drive of Hebron
Any help would be appreciated!

Hebron, neighboring towns, and southern Wisconsin are not "Chicago Suburbs." You may want to repost this in the "Illinois" forum for more/better answers.

Hebron is definitely within 30-40 minutes of the outskirts of our technical suburbs. Good schools and close to water? I'm thinking Crystal Lake. It's even got a Metra station for easy access to Chicago. But the real estate "on the lake" is a bit pricy. What's your budget? Depending how much you can spend, you may even be able look at towns like Tower Lakes or the northern portions of Barrington. Great schools and lots of little lakes. They are expensive though and they'd be pushing the limits of your commute tolerance.

Hebron isn't far from Lake Geneva, WI which is a nice resort town on a large lake with a lot of outdoor activities. I am not sure about the schools though.

Lake Geneva is a lot of fun. Greatschools.org rates Williams Bay, WI (also on Lake Geneva) schools very highly.
