Hi all, I am very interested in renting a 3 bdrm home in the La Grange area within a year. I am currently out in the western suburbs and would like to be closer in the the city of Chicago. I grew up in the Beverly area of Chicago and loved it, however, I have noticed quite a bit of more violent crime there lately. I find La Grange to have that wonderful older area feel and the dt is very nice too plus the Metra convenience to the city and close to the expressway. I was wondering how realistic it is to find a 3 bdrm home rental there in the $1,500-$1,800 range? And also what is La Grange Park like? Is it cheaper or would there be more home rentals available in that area maybe? I'm not real familiar with the area but have been there a few times and I really like it. I hope there's someone on this forum who can give me some advice!! This will be the first time I will have rented a home. Thanks in advance for any and all advice and help!!

While LaGrange Park purchase prices probably run a bit lower than LaGrange if you are comparing apples to apples, similar size / updating LaGrange Park is very similar.

As to the odds of finding a detached home that one could rent for $1500-$1800 in either town is remote -- I rarely see even three bed condo/townhouses/apartments in that range and the nices houses in the most desirable parts of town are probably going to be 2x++ the stated budget... You might have more luck shopping in nearby Countryside, Lyons or Brookfield.
