I don't live in aurora but I do live in the fox valley. This is Good news. It has been very well known that certain parts of Aurora have had a severe gang problem:

31 arrests made in 22 Kane County homicides

Good! Thats good news indeed! Gangs seem to be on the decline around here lately. I grew up in West Chicago, where there is a very large Hispanic population. Alot of the kids turned to gangs, and crime rose sharply here in the late 80's and early to mid 90's. A gang task force was formed and gangs are almost non-existant around here lately. Seems that Aurora and Elgin still struggle, as does Joliet.

Satellite cities are their own little ghettos, like Pontiac outside of Detroit. In the situation of Chicago, gangs leave the central city and settle in the satellites, where the police may be even less prepared to handle them.

I remember a kid who came to my elementry school from west chicago( i grew up in glen ellyn). his name was Nick and he was a big fat irish kid. He wore baggy cloths (this was 1992-93 when most self respecting upper middle class glen ellyn moms would not let their kids come out the house looking like this), he swore, spit, and we thought he was the coolest ,toughest kid ever. By the end of his first week you had about 50 elementary school kids, swearing, spitting, and trying to wear their older siblings larger pants.
