Hi All!

Can anyone give me any feedback on what the salary range is for folks with experience programming in COBOL and UNIX? Any feedback would be appreciated. DH will be starting the job hunt in very soon.

Laurie

The company I used to work for did not pay to much for knowing Unix. I believe it is partly due to the fact that Unix is being slowly dissolved. Linux was what they were willing to pay for. Also Aix.

It was somewhere in the upper $40K's to lower $50k's but obviously this is also company driven.

I beleive Lowe's home improvement uses them. They have moved most of the headquarters to Mooresville. The banks use them on the back end. I believe it is being phased out. IBM may use it but they tend to go with AIX which is like unix on steroids!

Unix is a solid product. It will be sad to see it go away.

Thanks for that info. It is a place to start. We would love to be able to get down there with something and of course, then dh can invest some time and $$ into updating skills and knowledge. I appreciate the feedback. I am hoping ot keep this thread in the forefront for a bit to see if other folks can share some knowledge/experience.
