Hi Y'all,

My son is flying in from Europe late tonite (just after 11PM) and we want to take him out to a nice, but casual place to eat and have a dark beer....

Does anyone know someplace with a fun atmosphere, yet not too noisy. We haven't seen him in almost 2 years!

The Hickory Tavern might work for you. Looks like Charlotte's locations # 2, 3, and 5 will be open late enough for his arrival time.

The Hickory Tavern (http://www.thehickorytavern.com/Locations.php - broken link)

Went there this weekend and it was good bar food. That late it might be pretty quiet, too. Hope this helps!

Default Another question...

Thanks for the Hickory Tavern suggestion. Hadn't heard of it before. We moved here from Colorado last year, and so we're just learning about everything.

I don't know if this is a silly question. Can you go to one of these late night places if you have a 17yo with you?

As you can see we are usually dead to the world before 10PM

Thanks!

Thanks for this suggestion! I was fascinated by some of the reviews... Especially the one where the person was visiting from Greece and the place changed his life!! That sure makes it sound intriguing.

Hickory Tavern has regular restaurant seating in addition to the bar section. Shouldn't be a problem to bring the 17 year old.

Flying Saucer...they have so-so food but they have over 300 beers. It's near UNCC, but it is not a rowdy place at all.

" --I spent almost 8 years in Boulder. Welcome to Charlotte!"

Thanks! We love it here. My husband is a construction mgr and he is SO glad not to have to work in blizzards.

"...regular restaurant seating in addition to the bar section. Shouldn't be a problem to bring the 17 year old."

So is this the rule: If a place is a bar only (with no restaurant seating) you can't bring in anyone under 21? Even if they are drinking soda?

just curious,
Betheroo

I believe by law they have to be 18 in that situation. However, some places do not allow minors after a certain time. Most bars/clubs here are 18 and up because repeated studies show that the 18-20 year olds are often the dd's.
