Sounds like another great opportunity for our growing community. Many New Yorkers have opened restaurants here that do it "the NY way" and some have been very successful. I'd be interested too, to know of a New York style Chinese restaurant. Just to taste the difference mainly.

It's frustrating, but I've found that the Chinese restaurants in the area usually have dishes that they do the "New York" way, and some others that are completely different. And it differs by restaurant.

I'm curious to know what you mean by the New York way, too. If you are trying to find something exactly like what you had "back home", you will likely always be disappointed. It is always going to be at least slightly different.

I agree. House of Leng will be the closes, or actually the closes to quality Chinese, not NY style. There was a place at Eastfield/Mallard Creek that made their Chinese almost identical to NY Style, but that Chef left for some reason, not sure where he went. House Of Leng is your next best bet.

This is an interesting thread b/c NY style Chinese food is different from anything here in Charlotte. When I stumbled upon that Chinese place on eastfield/mallard creek that made their Chinese NY style I always went there. However I didn't realize until now I went there all the time b/c the Chinese tasted like home (originally from Brooklyn).

I'm going to head back there this weekend to see if the Chef returned and post back here. Out of all the Chinese places I've visited from ballantyne, pineville, south/north/east charlotte, I've yet to find one that is NY style besides the one off Eastfiled/Mallard creek (can't remember the name).

Taipei South where Park/Johnston change names......behind the Burger King. That's probably the best I've had here.
