Tell me about Providence Plantation... (Charlotte: crime, house, neighborhoods)

Thanks to some helpful posters on this forum, we found and drove around this neighborhood and it looks nice - even saw a house we like. But can anyone tell me what its like to live here. What are the neighbors like? Services? Newcomers vs. Longtime residents? etc. Thanks so much. MJ

This is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Charlotte--mature trees, nice sized properties, in a good school system, convenient to the high-ways and shopping.

Prov Plantation is very large. I prefer the older section with homes that vary more and are spacious. The streets wind around and everything is not sitting on a straight grid. Some of the streets can be quite hilly, but to me that only adds to the character of the neighborhood. Some of the older homes may need updating inside, so you might get a deal if you are willing to do some work.

The newer section has homes that look a bit more alike and are a lot closer to together.

You will NOT lose money in this neighborhood, as it continues to appreciate every year. People will always want the larger props and spaciousness between homes--despite all the new construction going on around here.

Go buy your house!

Yeah great established neighboorhood. I have friends (that I consider "family") that have lived there for 25+ years.

Sounds like what we're looking for as we don't have much in the way of family! We'd love some "surrogate" grandparents for our kids! Are there some other kids in the area? How about crime? Anything much in the way of criminals taking advantage of the more secluded aspect of some of these lovely homes? Thanks. MJ

The place is packed with kids, you should have no problem finding yours some friends. The neighborhood pool would probably be a good place to start. As far as I know the area hasn't had too much trouble with crime - it is not a place criminals would find their way easily around I would think. You can check with the police department to be sure though.

you can pull up the subdivision from there and its great because its updated very frequently and its pulling from the MLS which is what the realtors use...This was an awesome tool for us as well....good luck to you...
