Hello, All

If there is a current thread on this topic I'd appreciate someone direct me. The threads I am finding are several years old.

I have two job interviews coming up. One job would be located in Charlotte (Uptown area) and the other in Concord.

After months of research and numerous visits, my preference is to live in Concord. I have mapped the directions from the apartment complex (reach is sort of on the Concord/Kannapolis borderline) to the Charlotte job at about 28 minutes. However, I am aware of the traffic situation there. Can anyone give me an idea of what the realistic commute time is from Concord/Kannapolis area (around exit 55) to uptown Charlotte? If its bad enough, unfortunately, I will need to consider my plan B.

Thanks!

My brother lives off of Mallard Creek (Exit 46). His commute to uptown from there is about 20 minutes in the morning.

At the worst time which I think is around 730 - 800 it may take you almost an hour. Say 25 min from Exit 55 to the Harris Blvd Exit and then another 20 - 25 min to reach Uptown. My husband would leave at 6:50 - 6:55, that pocket just before 700 AM and it would shave a big chunk off his commute. If the position has a flexible start time you can definitely get Uptown faster.

Not a long ride as long as you don't run into any backups..Charlotte does have hundreds of thousands of day commuters coming in and out every day on that route you know and someone with a flat tire or little break down can cause traffic to back up for miles...

I live in Concord and, I work south of uptown. I believe that on most mornings that commute that you refer to could be done in 45 minutes to an hour.

I live in Concord and work in Uptown. It takes me between 30-45 minutes to drive to my parking spot and walk the three blocks to my office. I usually leave my house between 7:00 am -7:10 am. I live around 7 minutes from the Poplar Tent entrance to I85. There are two bottlenecks on the commute. The first is I85 south to I77 south. Then there is I77 south to 277 inner loop(not sure the direction on this). Both aren't too bad. There are a couple of streets you can get off if traffic is horrible which isn't often.

The commute home can take longer. It can take me between 30-60 minutes to get home.

I am usually drive the speed limit on all highways.
