This past week there's been a rash of shootings and murders in North Charleston.
First the shooting in the ChucK e Cheese parking lot a few days ago, then a man found shot in a N. Charleston hotel parking lot yesterday who later died, then another shooting/murder at apartments on Dorchester Rd. yesterday.
All this within the span of a week. What the heck's going on? Seems like the gun violence in N. Charleston is getting out of hand, no?
It's really nothing new. I've been here now almost 7 years and when I first moved here I was in shock at the shootings but now I think I've gotten use to the crime. The shootings are personally motivated crimes and not random. The few random acts of violence here are few and far between and really happen everywhere.

Like was mentioned , it is nothing new, North Charleston actually has a lower crime rate now for crime and violent crime than it did 10 years ago!
I get that there's always been crime in N. Charleston, but I had read a month or so ago in the P&C that the mayor and others were disturbed at the level of the murder rate this early in the year, and were putting their heads together to try and find ways to stem the tide. Just seems to be getting worse instead of better.
US News and World report just put out their "Top 100 Places to Live", and the Charleston metro area ranked #19. A comment was made in the report that the Charleston metro has a higher violent crime rate than similar sized metro regions, due to the violent crime in N. Charleston.
The violent crime index for the Charleston metro is worse than the violent crime index for the Raleigh/Durham metro (#4), which is more than double the size.
The gun violence may be "mostly" between individuals who know each other, but the crime (robberies, burglaries, shootings, murders, theft) does affect those who live in areas other than N. Charleston - it's not self-contained.

Let me guess... you think that if it weren't for the guns all the violence would magically vanish somehow. Am I right?
It's an ongoing problem. And yes it impacts the community...hence the endless discussions of whether or not it is a good idea to live in North Charleston.

Here, let me help you out...
A gun is an inanimate object. A tool. North Charleston has a problem alright, but blaming it on the gun is not going to solve it.
No thank you -- I don't NEED or WANT your help. Bless your heart.....
Lol no problem... feel free to continue going through life being wrong.
