Ok, I've been referencing diff sites re ckd cats. Halo, Ziwi Peak, Green Tripe (only raw food i considered), Earthborn canned brand, Reveal brand canned, etc. So...I Am now totally confused.

I know phosphorous need be kept low but now see raw diets are not advised for ckd cats?? Before anyone goes & changes their cats' diet, please let's get sane feedback re all this.

So many ppl here have ckd cats or will soon enough due to aging, so we need a summation re one of the 2 -- MOST POSSIBLE ways a cat will pass. The other being cancer & I KNOW ZERO re that diet?!

I Know much of Tanya's kidney site but we need gather ALL evidence pro & con , re this nutrition info for ckd cats as it is cornerstone of what WE as pet owners can do to be informed-- & ultimately -- FEED at grassroots level daily, our ckd-worry kitties.

All info I thought I knew seems refuted the more research I do. Forget most vets as they're MORE clueless re ckd nutrition than us pet owners/lay ppl.

So If anyone can place in order these foods -- or eliminate which to avoid & if any to include -- it'd help alot of folks here re their kitties & ckd, be it now or later/someday. TY anyone.

I wanted to add today (surprised no one yet has any feedback here but ok...) that the BIG makers of pet foods are most likely in it for the $$$ not the true welfare longterm of pets. Thus, I steer clear once alerted to whom these companies may be.

Ok, hope others join in here as this can become real dilemma & unfortuately delaying proper nutrition or worse yet -- feeding improper foods (for CKD cats) longterm can definitely hurt! Hence why I'm so persistent re CKD kitties.

Have you checked out the other threads here on cat food? There are many knowledgeable people here. My little boy would only eat wet food if we stirred in extra water with it. He loved dry food so we found the highest protein level we could from a pet store, not the grocery store and offered both.

TY Heidi, but one thing but... to add dry food is bad for kidney by bad dehydration. ANY can/wet foods beats BEST dry, period, & for kidney its a MUST!!!
