Purina and others like it, through their price point for many of their products, allow many, many cats (dogs also?) to get fed. While it is not the optimal diet, it is much better than the alternative for many cats.

I feed Friskies canned food. Can size is 5.5 ounces. Price is about 50 cents per can.

No, wet food. As the poster above said, 5.5oz can, 50 cents a can.

I feed a whole lot of cats, so budget wise, I think in price per ounce when shopping.
