Why is there litter on their toesies? Put a litter grabbing mat in front of their box, and they will not be carrying litter out of the box area.

Mine don't walk on my plate, mostly because I hold my plate while I sit on the couch to eat, but....my cats may or may not on occasion nibble a bit of chicken directly off my plate when I am not looking.

Nimbus likes to reach out a paw and tap me when I'm eating, in the hopes that I will share. If it's something appropriate for him to sample, I do give him bites. I draw the line at him trying to put that paw up on my plate though, which he certainly would if I let him...

He is not pleased, because daylight savings time has messed up his feeding schedule, and he did not get the memo...he pulled that whole "poor kitty is starving and no one cares" act on me last night.

I have two sofa tigers circling and they have to hang in for 30 more minutes.

I gave up trying to keep them off the counters several years ago, when I realized I can only train them to stay off the counters/table when I'm actually standing in the room.

I just take a few extra seconds to clean and disinfect the counters before cooking and the table before eating.

Kitty only jumped on the kitchen counter once. I was just about to scold her when I saw that she was watching ants on the counter. I put her on the floor and she never tried it again.

Daisy and Chewy are tree dwellers and love to be up high, like on counters and tables, but Lucky is not a jumper and he gets about sofa high, and that is his limit. We gave up trying to keep the other two off of our counters and tables, so we just use clorox cleaner to clean them frequently. We don't eat on our counters or tables so there is no issue there.

As someone else said, you would have to stand guard 24/7 to keep them off, and even then they would do it just to test your patience.

I also use Clorox Cleanup (in the spray bottle) to wipe down surfaces & countertops. The thing is, it actually attracts 2 of my cats, and they react to it as if it's catnip. They will sniff, rub, and roll around on where ever I've used it for a few minutes. I don't bother trying to keep my guys off of the counters, so it's not an issue. But if I did, I certainly wouldn't be able to use the Clorox cleaner.

Try the orange scented Clorox wipes. Citrus scents like that usually repel cats to some degree. In our house the word "repel" is definitely an overstatement, but I don't think Nimbus LIKES the smell of the wipes, either.
