Serious levels of air pollution in Marin County seem to be especially common during the November through January rainy season:

This seems to be especially true for the towns east of the mountains, i.e., where most of Marin County's people live. That said, are some Marin towns less affected by air pollution during this period than others?

It's probably because of people burning stuff in their fireplace. The air regulation Nazis have to find something else to freak out about to justify their existence; since air pollution has dropped precipitously in the Bay Area over the last 30 years (as it has in most places).

I don't have an answer for you, but this was a concern of mine when we were considering Marin. The increase in breast cancer cases in Marin is a great mystery as well.

I personally like that there are agencies who care about the state of our air. I welcome anything that will make our air cleaner to breathe so that we can live a longer, healthier life.
