Hi all,

I am living in Bedford, MA but got a new job in Franklin, MA. What's the best route for commuting. I can either go 128S and to mass pike west and go I495S or I can take Rt3 to I-495. The latter is 10 miles longer. I just moved here. Really have no idea which way I should take. Could you help me? Thanks a million.

128 can be rough in the morning but the Mass Pike going west from 128 to 495 is not so bad. Rt 3 is better heading out than coming in toward Boston. Would you need 3 South to get to 128?

I don't know about 495. The issue is whether the traffic on 128/Mass Pike is sufficiently worse to make it worth traveling another 10 miles. If that's adding about 30% to the mileage I'd guess no, but you'd have to check out how bad 128 is. A lot of other people do this every day. If you don't get responses you might want to repost with Commute on 128 in the subject to bring in people with info about that specific stretch.

Rt495 around pike is not easy during rush hour either... especially during the evening when every one wants to get into the Pike. Rt495 backs up.

Depends on the time you commute, it can vary 15-30 minutes on Rt495.

Default Try route 126 South

I would suggest if you have to avoid 128/95. There can be bad traffic rush hour
For a more leisurely yet equally long drive tho without as much stress
it will be about an hour or so no matter which route you take +/- the traffic on 128/95.

126 will have less traffic

Take route 62 West
then 126 South which will become both 126 and 27 for awhile
eventually through Framingham. Follow 126/27 until it becomes 126 again
and it will take you into Franklin,

From there you have two options take 126 all the way to 495 South and get to franklin that way or turn left onto Plain St. and then a R onto Pond St. and head into Franlin that way you'll hit Central St. eventually (140 E) which will take you into Franklin Center.

-----

126 would be the best route for you to take and less hassle than the highways depending on the time of day you go to work.

------

it will still take an hour or more for the commute but will be less stressful

Cool 126

I have taken this route home from gillette Stadium (work) and to Gillette Somtimes. It isn't bad and less craziness than driving the highways.
You dont get caught up in those huge backups, the route is in the country/suburban area and goes through some town centers too with services. Not too many traffic lights...
