I will be relocating from the southeast to Boise in a few weeks to start a new job, and I was just hoping to get suggestions regarding areas of the city I should consider renting an apartment in. I have never been to Boise, but I love to exercise outside (running especially), so I'm looking forward to making the move.

I am unmarried and don't have any kids, so factors like proximity to schools don't matter. I will be working at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center during the late afternoon/early evening to mid-overnight hours (think 4:30 PM to 2-3 AM).

From the research I've done, I understand that downtown Boise has really grown in recent years and is considered to be a pretty desirable area to live in. It also looks like the downtown area in general is only 3-4 miles away from the hospital I'll be working at.

In general, is downtown a nice area to live in? I also read that a handful of the running trails and parks are located fairly close to downtown, which appeals to me since I'll probably be running outside least 4-5 days/week.

I actually did a search for apartments in downtown Boise on Apartments.com earlier, and I don't think more than one or two apartment complexes (the much older-looking ones) had any availability whatsoever. I understand that Boise has become a popular destination for people to want to move to, but has it really gotten to the point that there's virtually no housing (at least in terms of apartments) left in the desirable areas of the city?

Thanks

Boise has a university so finding an apartment maybe difficult.

Almost all of Boise is a desirable place to live and apartment availability is tight because of population growth. New complexes are under construction around the city and hundreds of new units are currently under construction in numerous buildings going up downtown.

Hi! Welcome to Boise! The Fowler apartments downtown are awesome--my daughter (24) lives there and loves the urban lifestlye, access to greenbelt, and cool community of people. It's in a great location within the downtown area with access to everything. The Somerset Hills apartments would put you at the base of lots of foothills trail hiking and in the north end area. Those are the two that are top of mind for an active professional new to the area.

Studios at Fowler start at $1,363/month and Somerset Hills has no availability at all. Pickings are slim right now!
