Is Pinellas County right for us ?

Have you considered Sarasota County? - Venice is building a huge hospital - a division of Sarasota Memorial - it is not as crowded here - Sarasota is "artsy" and you can be within 5 minutes of several beaches. Look up Venice and Nokomis FL - I am originally from NJ so I know where you are coming from - much safer here and schools are good - check out Laurel Nokomis School - highly rated and near the new hospital being build

But we like to be close enough to entertainment and a variety of restaurants, parks, bike trails, etc.... We would be looking to buy a house in the $450-$575 range and be within 25-30 minutes to a beach. Is this realistic?
