►The State Farmer's Market is always a great way to spend the afternoon.

►The flea market at the state farigrounds is also worth the trip.

►If you love classic cars check out the Classic Car Showroom in Wake Forest or the Capital City Cruisers Car Annual Car Show at Lake Wheeler in August.

Wonderful! Thanks so much for this. I'm still too new to give you many ideas, but I have done a couple of nice things. The NC Museum of Art is not just for movies under the stars ;-) Admission is free and they have an interesting assortment of exhibitions. They have free public tours and a staff of volunteers who are dying to show you their museum.

If you like exploring interesting stores, I found A Southern Season to be a really fascinating place. I have never been in a store like that! I spent a couple of hours just walking around in there, looking at all the neat stuff.

If you like Middle Eastern food, check out Neomande's. They have a grocery section with all sorts of interesting food items as well as a deli with fresh, ready-to-eat food. There is an outdoor patio as well as a large indoor seating area. The food is absolutely delicious, and after you eat you can have hot tea and watch the unending parade of shoppers come through. I was delighted by the variety of types of people who seem to frequent the place.

The International Festival has passed us by for this year, but I went and highly recommend it. Admission was free (I don't know whether they normally charge an admission) and they had a never-ending stage show. Each country did about a 15-minute cultural presentation (song, dance, etc.). You could feasibly spend a couple of days just sitting and watching that! If you did, you'd miss out on all of the fabulous food and interesting displays. Some non-international companies had displays as well. I got to ride a Segway for the first time and found out that there are Segway tours of downtonwn Raleigh available. That's not free, but sounds like so much fun that I will definitely have to give it a try sometime.

On October 11, the town of Cary is presenting "Cary Diwali", the Festival of Lights. It is an Indian festival and will have food, displays, shows and fireworks. Admission is free and will be at the Koka Booth Ampitheatre. I can't wait for that one!

    Dear NRG
I am planning a trip to the Triangle in the first week of June and I was getting a bit upset due to the lack of information I got from the net... that was of course until I finally bumped into this website and read all your tips! Thank you sooo much for that!

I look forward to reading other posts... it would be so cool to read something about public transport for daily trips by the way! ))

    Love & peace from Europe,

    MoniQ
