Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Road Trip Case Is At It Again, And Going German This Time

Posted 06-06-2021 at 05:37 PM by case44

No, no, your writer is not going to Germany.

Unless, of course, it's in Texas.

Well, gang, Ol' Case is gathering his belongings for a five-day road trip. Oh, I've got a list of things to see and places to eat, but most of all, I'm going to be spontaneous. And why not? It's vacation. My landing of choice this time is in the Texas Hill Country. Two places will be stopped at. Tomorrow (at this writing), it's Marble Falls. My hotel is right next to the Colorado River and this should make for some marvelous sunrises and sunsets. And just when it looked like these recent rain events in Texas would never end, Mother Nature just did me a big favor. The National Weather Service just revised its forecasts drastically in the last couple of days. I should be seeing sunny skies for about ninety-five percent of my road trip.

Stop number two is Fredericksburg on Wednesday, and this actually denotes the German accent in the trip. It's a German-settled community, one of several in the state, but this one is the best-known. I'll go to no fewer than three places for German fare. When planning on a computer, you do a lot of homework, and you have to dance around the many different sets of schedules that a restaurant or some tourist attraction has in regards to opening and closing. And there are quite a few odd hours at some of these desired locations, so my planning must go accordingly.

Plans aside, this writer will be living it up. After all, I didn't earn five weeks of vacation in 2021 for nothing. My road trip will be over on Friday, but my vacation will extend through the weekend.

Hey, you out there.......

Yeah, you!

Go do something fun.

Been to Fredericksburg several years back. Love visiting there. You've convinced me to go again, but I'll work it in when I can get off a little bit.

Did you get to go to Bandera or Kerrville?
