Request for walk through for roommate moving out before I do

Posted 08-19-2019 at 08:15 PM by MilaPiper

Question: Is there a California law regarding moving out walkthroughs for roommates moving out before the final lease is up to assess for damages they are responsible for? Apartment complex stated they won’t do a walk through until lease is up when main leaseholder is moving out no matter how many additional extensions to lease or additional roommates move in.

Thank you[/quote]

A landlord can't force you to move out before the lease ends, unless you fail to pay the rent or violate another significant term, such as repeatedly throwing large and noisy parties. In these cases, landlords in California must follow specific procedures to end the tenancy.
