Marriage Is A Funny Thing

Marriage is a very funny thing: it can be one of the best things you ever experienced or one of the worst. Sometimes it makes you feel happy and on top of the world. Other times, it makes you feel miserable and like you made the biggest mistake of your life.
Love is important but the longer I stay with my husband, I wonder if love is enough. I love him dearly and we did live together before marriage. However, no matter how long you live together before your wedding day, you can't possibly imagine every scenario you both will encounter during marriage. Therefore, surprises can and do happen.
That same spouse who was your best friend can one day make you wish your marriage license had an expiration date.
Those of us women who married later in life often couldn't wait for our days of being single to end. But as my mom wisely said,"It's better to wish you WERE married than to wish you WEREN'T."
I do love my husband but many days, I no longer understand him or feel fully loved by him. He does love me, I'm sure, but lately it feels like everyone else and everything else matter to him more than our marriage.
But as an old-school gal, I'm just not ready to walk away and give up. Go figure. If this were a job, I'd quit though or seriously consider it.
