Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

I've Got A New Job --- And I'm In

The suspense was deafening. So much so that if a pin were to drop, it'd sound like an anvil in a Wile E. Coyote cartoon. ![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
You should have seen The Case while he waited for a decision on a job offer. It took a week since an interview (actually, a second one) had taken place. I wondered if I'd ever hear from my new manager or the HR rep. And then.........
That moment came!
I got the HR rep on the phone and we nailed everything down and signed what needed signing. Everything was going to be right this time, and I have accepted the offer. Now, on to business in a new department. No more will I say, ".....if I get the job." Now, it's "I'm in..."
So much for the vacation in my current department, but we'll worry about another road trip when the time is right. Cancel Corpus, Case. You're not going.
In its place will be a six-day work week as I transition from dispatch to Customs Brokerage, but I'll manage just fine. The training session will be at night, but that will be fine. Doctor and dentist appointments that occur during the day won't be disrupted. After the training sessions are done, I have a three-day weekend before moving to a new morning shift from Tuesdays through Saturdays. Once I'm plugged in to this new department, it will be smooth sailing. Oh, there will be challenges faced there, but at least, I won't be on the phone for eight hours straight anymore.
When you persist, it does pay off.
