The main reason I planned this trip - to see the eclipse - was a non- event. If it hadn't been for the festival the night before, when huge monstrous effigies were paraded around the main street, and everyone required to stay indoors today, I wouldn't have known their was an eclipse at all. I mean, total shutdown: nothing working, everything shut and nobody going out. Though I don't think there are festival police to collar anyone who actually does.
There was no noticeable darkness and I only saw the partial eclipse image when my atheist pal did the pinhole and card trick.
I spent a bit of time with the owner's son doing a paper on the UK Royal family and architecture. Failing grade on the way!
