Westerns

They were always my favorite, either tv shows or movies. I liked the ones from the mid 50s to the early 70s. There is always a scene where a cowboy rides into a "bad town" and parks his horse at the hitching post, just loops the reins on it, never ties it, and goes into a saloon for a few hours. His horse is left out there looking at the hitching post, knowing damn well he can just walk away if he wanted to while his owner is in there getting liquored up. If it's supposed to be such a bad town why does everyone leave rifles, ropes and saddlebags full of goodies on their unattended horses? Those horses would get picked clean in my town if they weren't stolen altogether. I saw this western where a guy got shot in the back, fell about 30 feet off a cliff bouncing off boulders until he landed on a ledge. His friend came down, stuffed a rag in the bullet hole, gave him a drink of that miracle water from his canteen that they always carry and somehow pulled him back up to the top with a rope. Once at the top, he was as good as new and he and his friend rode off to look for the man who shot him. I like the shootouts the best, when bullets are flying in all different directions and they're scrambling for cover. Sometimes they'll take cover behind the dumbest things, a tipped over bar table or a bush. I like to keep track of the shots they fire from their six-shooters. I once saw Little Joe(Michael Landon) fire ten shots from his pistol without reloading. When they get tired of these CSI and reality shows maybe they'll fill the tv with westerns again.
