The use of technology in health care to view information, transmit results and access services is growing every day. Digital health tools have changed how Canadians interact with their health care teams and contribute towards improved care for themselves and their loved ones.
Digital solutions like telehealth, drug and diagnostic imaging systems and physician electronic medical records – have produced an estimated $13 billion in access, quality and productivity benefits for Canadians and our health care system since 2007.
Think digital health isn't making a difference? Think again. Every day, more of our health care system goes digital. It's a private, secure, effective way to make health care better, for all of us.
By the numbers:
• 75: Percentage of physicians in Canada who report using electronic records (National Physician Survey)
• 76: Percentage of Canadians who say digital health can make accessing health care easier and more convenient (Harris/Decima)
• 83: Percentage of Canadian households with access to the internet (Statistics Canada)
• 89: Percentage of Canadians who feel it is important that they personally have full advantage of digital health tools and capabilities
• 47,000,000: Number of kilometres patients and their families did not travel in 2010 thanks to Telehealth
