David Cronenberg. Hollywood. Think The Player (1992), with Jack Torrance in the lead. Now where did I leave my axe? Nothing is as it seems. Months of tabloid headlines brought to life. Your hand is poised on the light switch as you hear the skittering across the floor and counter. You know what you'll see when you flip the switch. Maps to the Stars eases you in with the opening credit animation (which also plays at the end, though almost 180 out). I kept checking the theaters but never saw a limited release showing. This would have played well on the big screen. I need to see it again. ★★★1/4
