hunterseat df: Hunter Seat Equitation is a division that is judged on the ability and the style of the rider. The riders can be judged both over fences and on the flat.

Although true, hunters DO eat, at least the skilled ones do, my name derives from the world of horses.

And because the word hunter is in my name, people automatically think I'm a guy. Not even close.

Whenever I meet someone named Hunter I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying "That's my name, too!"

Practical Joke

Posted 12-28-2014 at 07:56 AM by hunterseat

Isn't that an interesting phrase? Practical Joke. What makes it practical?

PRACTICAL df: of, relating to, or concerned with ordinary activities, business, or work

OH! I see! It's bringing a bit of humor into your ordinary day during your ordinary activities like work!

I once worked at a place where the guys were always playing practical jokes. (military tends to be like that). They thought it would be a real hoot to plant a pair of women's panties in a guy's car. They put it between the seat and door of the passenger side so, when his wife got in the car she found them. Really? Does the word practical remotely apply here? The marriage survived but it took a while before she believed him.

For the most part I have a kind heart. Remember Candid Camera? They did some things that were funny.

I saw another show recently about how we perceive things. My two favorite examples:
There was a man who came to a counter and spoke to the woman behind the counter. It was staged so he had to look away for a moment during which time she stooped down and another woman stood and took her place. The transaction was completed and the guy didn't seem to notice. They used two blonde women, then women who didn't look alike at all. Many people didn't notice.
On a busy street, an actor would stop a stranger and ask directions. people carrying a large board would rudely walk between them. The direction seeker would walk off behind the board as a different person took her place. For the most part the helpful victim never even noticed.

That's fascinating to me. I always wonder if I'd notice and I wish I got a chance to try something like that. How about this awareness test? You have to really concentrate!

What I do not like are the PRANKS. "aw man you got pranked!" I always feel sorry for the victims. It seems so mean spirited. Even the prank where they set up an identical truck and a man watched as "his" beloved pick-up was crushed "by accident". That's enough to make a guy cry! What's funny about making someone cry?

Life can be too mean as it is. Be kind. Even if you don't want to. Instead of treating someone the way they treat you, treat them the way you WISHED they would treat you.

Now watch that video and count the passes and see what you learn. Did you get it right? Practically?
