Feelin Groovy

Posted 12-27-2014 at 07:53 PM by aliasfinn

I lived right across the street from my school when I was in 4th grade so I usually went home for lunch where I could watch tv while I ate. I would always watch My Favorite Martian as I ate my peanut butter and jelly sandwich and when it was over it was time to go back to school. There was a local plant show that would come on immediately after My Favorite Martian that used the music from Simon and Garfunkel's " Feelin Groovy " as it's opening theme. That would be the last thing I would hear as I went out the door. One Friday as I was heading back to school feeling good about it being Friday and only having 3 more hours of school until the weekend,I began skipping down the sidewalk and whistling " Feelin Groovy. " We had an old crosswalk guard who was probably about 70 years old that would come out of this little wooden structure that looked like a tall doghouse with his hand held stop sign whenever he saw a pedestrian approaching. I felt kind of embarrassed when he saw me skipping and whistling,he probably thought I was a flake. When 3:30 rolled around he came out of his doghouse with his sign when he saw me and some other kids getting ready to cross the street. As we walked past him I noticed he was humming " Feelin Groovy. " When I got home I kind of chuckled thinking he had that tune in his head for over 3 hours thanks to me.
