The President Deserves Respect

President Obama, as President of the United States, deserves respect, I'm bothered to see people disrespecting him (especially professing Christians) just as much as I'm bothered by people disrespecting former President Bush.
George W. Bush received little respect from enemies the entire time he was in office. Yet I didn't hear the other side complain and say "He is our President & he deserves respect." Just jokes, jabs, & disrespect from all sides.
Where were the cries for respect for W, when he President, and now as a former President? It works both ways.
I disliked President Clinton when he was in office, and made it known - and one day I was promptly put in my place by an older man who didn't like him either - but said I was disrespecting the United States by trash talking the President.
I was ashamed. He was right. How can the world take us seriously when we have made such a mockery of our government?
I promised myself that the President, good or bad, would not be ridiculed or disrespected by me. You can disagree without disrespect.
