What the Preachers Are Not Saying

There are millions of words that pour from southern pulpits every Sunday, words that are generally excepted well. But the standard fare is so bland, so worn out from repetition and with words that so often miss the mark, that one wonders where to get some fresh thinking. I listen carefully to at least a half dozen sermons each week. It's not what is being said that concerns me; it's what is not being said
Preachers are afraid to move away from the bible and yet history has moved away from the bible. Two thousands years is too much time for a book, any book, including the bible to remain relevant. Preachers and deacons howl about this but it's true. The Holy Spirit is still relevant and He still dwells within us and He is still able to teach us in the things we need to know for our day. But fear grips the heart of those to dull of mind to want to think through the vital issues of our day.
Perhaps the complications of modern life is just to much for today's brains; to much for the modern spirit. It would appear that the fundamentalists can't handle any more information because their minds are frozen in time. Pentecostals are somewhat more sensitive to listening to the spirit, but they are told that if the spirit gives any message that is outside the ancient scriptures then it is not of God, so the Holy Spirit is still bound up in old wine skins. The Pentecostals have not introduced any new concepts to help man understand and adjust to our modern world.
Pentecostals should be open to prophecy, as in understanding the future but if you have analyzed the actual prophecies coming out of their group, you will see that they are 90% inaccurate. Futurists, like Buckminster Fuller and Alvin Toffler beat them hands down when it comes to accuracy about the future. We could say ditto about the Adventists, who specialize in prophecy but who have consistently missed the mark, about the end times.
