This is the true continuing saga of my escape from California. While California is a beautiful, unique place, it is wrought with political turmoil, over-taxation and ridiculous laws. We want to be free.
So we have arranged to move to the lovely Oregon Coast area. And build and run an antique store. To enjoy life in a leisurely fashion.
This is my story.

Swap Meet Success

Posted 01-29-2009 at 10:58 PM by DezertGirl

After awakening at 1:00 am and getting on the road at 1:30, we met our friends with their truck and trailer full of treasures and caravanned to the swap meet.
We made entry and set up our wonderful shabby chic items! We had furniture, books, tools, knick-knacks, framed art, glassware, antlers and more! Our friends had mostly baby items but did really, really well. We did fine, too, and got rid of a lot of stuff. I would call it a "Swap Meet Success".
We saw the regulars there: the cool guy from Colorado that collects deer antlers; the tweeker woman who is running in perpetual fast forward and WILL NOT shut up (*grin*); the furniture guy that restores old pieces; the really old grizzled man who has a nasty attitude but LOVES my books; and the silly people looking for eBay deals. Not in my inventory...all my items have been thoroughly researched already and the "good" stuff has been listed on eBay by ME! I only provide E-Jects at the swap meet.
The weather was beautiful and cool and the sun shone most of the day. We packed up and headed home.
Now the cycle begins all over...I go through stuff and collect it in plastic bins for the next meet. Some items go on eBay, some are donated to our small town's thrift store and other items are listed on Craigslist.org.
Things are moving...slowly, but moving! I see progress every day!
