Too Many Rules..........

Posted 08-25-2012 at 05:49 PM by CSD610

I have finally decided that there are too many rules in this world and a lot of them are just plain silly but this is of course my opinion which is the result of my experiences in my life.

So, I am married to a man who is not a techno genius and he struggles to turn on the lap top some days because he rarely uses a computer and does not remember how to turn it on. So, I set up everything for him and I set it up using myself for the details. The reason I do this is he usually does not remember the password or the exact sign on name. If I set it up as myself then I remember all those things and it just makes my life easier.

What this means is that it looks like I have duplicate accounts on some sites and in essence I do "technically" but not in reality simply because the reality of the situation is that my husband uses the above referenced accounts.

Oh well what does one do about it technically even though it is not as it appears in reality? I suppose I should set up things in his name and as him and make a note of how I set it up and what answers I used for what questions and the passwords. The end result is I have twice as much to remember or keep track of and trust me I have enough to keep track of already. So technically I guess I just won't set up anything for him so in reality he just won't be able to access any accounts, post to forums or read forums because he will never be able to access them or set them up on his own.

My husband is by no means stupid he is just not a computer tech as far as accessing things easily. We recently purchased an iPhone and iPad for him and just a few minutes ago he was actually able to figure out how to "face time" me on his iPhone. This is after 6 times of asking me how to do this and 6 unsuccessful tries at actually getting connected.

I know a lot of people are not into computers and technology and the workings of either as much as others and it has nothing to do with their intelligence. It has everything to do with their lack of interest in actually using said technology on a daily basis. He does love the Face Time factor though since he is gone from home a lot working. So now instead of sitting on the phone chatting we can actually see each other and chat and I can see the places he stops and eats or gets a cold drink or sleeps.

This is just one example of how the 'Rules' have once again hindered us to live part of our lives as we choose to live them. I suppose on some level that is fine but it is an inconvenience for us that no one but us cares about.

So what "rules" do you have to adhere to that make how you do things a wee bit inconvenient technically even if the reality of it is different? That almost does not make any sense at all.

I understand the need for rules so there is not a bunch of chaotic, out of control running amok however, not being able to technically have a duplicate account so in reality my husband can use it is just silly to me.
