As we found our seats I looked for him. I looked for my son, my baby. I tried to find him in the huge crowd of people. A large grouping of kids somewhat like him, with me surrounded by parents somewhat like myself.

I thought he should be about half way down the line and I finally was able to make him out. Every once in a while I saw him looking around and I know what he was doing. He was viewing the audience trying to find me. Just as I was trying so hard to find him, he did the same for me. My little boy is now a man. He has graduated from high school and has the rest of his life in front of him.

I heard his name called and saw him walk across that stage and I just really could not believe it was him. I remember bringing him home from the hospital when he was three days old just like it was yesterday. In reality, yesterday is when he walked across that stage.

He has made me so proud. Now I know how my dad felt when he watched me walk across a stage much like that one. At the end of the ceremony as all of the graduates were walking off I ran down the stairs and different levels of the stadium to get closer to my little boy. Finally I got close enough to him. Teachers on both sides stopping him for hugs, telling him that he was going to make them cry. My son towering over all of the students and teachers...

I screamed out his name, "ALEXANDER!!!!!!!" He heard me and was looking around into the sea of people. He could hear me but could not find me. I called his name again and he finally saw me. I gave him the thumbs up and signed I love you to him.

After that we all went out to eat, my son, my daughter, my sweetie, and his daughter and then went to an amusement park for the weekend. My son and I meeting eachother in the middle. Both of us now adults but having fun like kids.

Pictures of us on the roller coasters were something else. Me screaming in extreme excitement, and he in extreme horror. I have no idea why he gets on, but he does, as afraid as he is. I know why I get on.....I crave adrenaline. My sweetie and my daughter being the grounds crew, daring not to get on the coasters, and his daughter sometimes joining us.

I don't know if we will ever do that again, but I sure hope we will. I have missed out on a bit of time with my kids, sadly, and watching my son graduate was bittersweet.

One one hand I am so very proud of him, on the other, not ready for him to grow up. I suppose it is my time to grow with my hone, into older people as my children grow into adults, making their ways in their own lives....
