Grand Junction CO: best vacuum repair is Russ Vacuum; avoid the others

In my opinion, there is only one good vacuum repair shop in the Grand Valley – Russ Vacuum - at 7th and North Avenue near the college. The other two in Grand Junction treat customers like dirt bags; appreciate the understatement.
The one on Colorado Blvd near Main Street - Adams Vacuum & Sewing Center - is run by old geezers who treat us women - under 70 - as if we should walk two steps behind them. The counter guys look like something out of Deliverance: toothless and creepy, not to mention incompetent and deceitful. I will explain. My upright Royal was missing a bolt to keep the wand attached to the body. The toothless man behind the counter proceeded to slip a bolt through and strip the threads on it, as I watched. He said, “You won’t find this bolt anywhere but here.” I found the same bolt at Home Depot within a day and proceeded back to the store to complain to the manager. First I went to the creep who stripped the threads. He took my stripped bolt and tossed it in the trash, probably to hide his work. Manager said his guy was the best repairman in town.
Fast forward to the next vacuum shop, the one on First Ave, Dirt Suckers. Same thing: old guy behind the counter acting like the King of Sheba. Lo mismo, lo mismo. So I asked around and found Russ Vacuums, owner a younger guy, schooled in the Nordstrom customer approach. My apologies to all you old guys who are ‘with it’, and to the old-schoolers who aren’t: get with it. One disgruntled customer tells 50 others.
