Flat tire

Posted 04-19-2012 at 03:44 PM by LookinForMayberry

Just returned from the doctor, DH and I were talking about how what was once (when we were younger) a simple thing can devolve into a big thing, now.

Metaphorically, it's like getting a flat tire. When you are young, you jump out with the jack, raise the car to lift the axle, unscrew the lug nuts, etc... reverse the process with the new tire on, and you are back on the road.

Health situations when we are older seem like getting a flat tire, only to discover that the axle is not hinged properly, and while you are repairing the axle (after a long wait), the car slips and the wheel well on the opposite side gets crushed, and while you are waiting for the tow truck to haul you in, a passing vehicle throws a rock that busts your windshield. The wrecker gets detained, you get a ride home, and before the wrecker gets there, you learn later that someone came by and removed the offending tire, as well as its neighbors. A transient has slept inside, and left a calling card, and a drive by shooter has taken care of the other windows.

You donate the remnant of what was your car to a charity, and think about taking the bus....

Lord, if this is what I am facing, I am glad You are with me.
