45 Cinemas & Theaters that closed from 1900's-2012

I remember movie theaters in Mobile, Alabama that no longer exist. The Airport Blvd.Twin Cinema was located before Panera Bread on the same side of Airport Blvd. In the Festival Center was Movies 10 Theater, and tickets were $1.00. Next to Dillard's, in the same parking lot was the Bel Air Cinema. Across the street was the Springdale 11 in Springdale Plaza. I saw my first 3D movie with glasses there, (Friday the 13th). Now Shoe Station, on the side of the mall was The Capri Theater. I saw Ghost Busters there.

Azalea Theatre located on Airport Blvd. & Azalea Rd. now an antique store. Village 6 Theaters (now Toys Ur Us) is on the side of Bel Air Mall across from what is now Shoe Station. Down Airport Blvd. at the Loop area was the Loop Theater and is now a Walgreens Drugstore. Midtown Theater now, Club Crown. On Government Blvd. was the recently closed Carmike 14 Theater next to Applebees.

The Air Sho Drive-In (once called Auto Sho Drive-In) off hwy 90 & Azalea is now a Chevron gas station, and there was another Air Sho Drive-In in Chickasaw. Air- Sho Fly-In Theater (now Wendy's on Airport Blvd.).

Bama Drive-In was located on Halls Mill Road. Do Drive-In was in Whistler near Eight Mile. The Oasis Drive-In Theater was on St. Stephens Rd., also a drive through for food. Berkley Theater (not sure of location). Dauphine Theater became the Majestic Theater in 1918, and finally becoming the Bijou Theater in 1922 on Canal St.

Next to Popeye's Chicken on Dauphin St. was the Dauphin Street Cinema 6 and Empire Theater (now Dauphin St. Popeye's). Queen Theater was on Dauphin St. as well.

The Roxy Theater was in the Five Points area, and it is now a church. On Davis Ave. (now Dr. M.L.K. Ave.) was the Lincoln Theater that is now Florence Howard Elementary, and Booker T. Theater was located on Dr. Martin L. King Ave. & Belsaw Ave. was across the street next to the once Findley's Drugstore.

The Ace Theater on Congress Street at N. Lawrence St. and the building is still there boarded up and unoccupied. Harlem Theater on Selma St. & Dearborn. The Crescent Theater became the Century Theatre downtown near Antwerp building in 1937. Pike Theater was on Davis Ave. and the Roosevelt Theater was on Broad St. The Downtown Theater is now Govt. Plaza.

The Lyric Theater was on S. Royal & Conti St. in downtown Mobile and is now a parking lot. The Strand Theater is now a law firm on 11 Conception St. Brookley Theater has been demolished was once on Michigan Ave. & Eagle Dr. The Crichton Theater is now Crichton's Regions Bank.

Carver Theater was in Prichard on hwy 45 near Friendship Baptist Church. The Prichard Theater was on S. Wilson Ave. and the Rex Theater was on 19 Main St. The Monroe Park Theater-an outside stadium-like theater located along the causeway/bayway.
Gaiety Theater (not sure of its location). Entering the heart of Prichard was the Gem Theater on Wilson Ave. it is now a park.
