Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Back Home Again In The Case Abode

I'm actually a little late in writing this, but this sort of thing happens when a certain writer whom you read all the time gets preoccupied.
Glad to be back in Big D territory, but heck, if I didn't have to go back to work, I'd have stayed in the Houston area to get second and third orders at some of my favorite restaurants and attended another Astros game.
I had a wonderful time down there on my longest vacation this calendar year. Come November, I'll be taking just a few short days, and so, those plans will be put together within a month. Looking at the first week of November for my next getaway, but don't get too excited. For now, it's back to work to make some bucks to pay for the gasoline I thankfully have in my tank.
At least, I survived today, but I can always reminisce about how (almost) uneventful my trip went. And sometimes, that's okay when you don't have to emphasize having so many big, drawn-out itineraries to go places. Oh, I had a set of plans, but it was only as a guide. With Galveston under my belt, the only fish stories I have are the ones that were on my plates in two places.
Sea scallops, mind you, not sharks.
My computer calendar is often toyed with and doodled with from time to time, wondering what dates I can take off for, say, the next few years. When you're single and by yourself, you can do things like that. When you aren't, you probably won't. But speculation can be a good thing in the act of planning and anticipating. As of now, I have to get my house in order, and that can't stop, along with the rest of the daily grind. I will be back on the road as soon as a few more moons will shine.
There's just nothing in this precious world like taking quality time off to go see same. It's worth every second.
