Walking Away

Posted 12-07-2008 at 10:53 AM by SCGranny

Why do folks find it so hard to walk away?

I used to be one who wrote newspaper columns on how to do things the right way. I received a lot of grief for it. As a minor politician, I discovered that people all wanted a 'good ol boy' system - but one that catered to them and their individual wants, needs, and desires. They expected the world, the government, and me to cater to their every demand, wish, and want, with no respect for my life, or my person, or the ideals with which I presented them and on which I was elected.

So - I walked away. No one is more important to me than me and mine. Sorry if that offends, but frankly I don't give a damn. I owe no one anything.

So it is in some forums. People who nitpick and harass and demand and scream just to 'hear' themselves scream, to make themselves feel important. I won't buy into it. I'll say what I have to say and then let them scream. Because my life, my loves, my goals, my plans, and fulfilling my own dreams are the most important things to me. All else is mere noise and bluster and self-promotion, signifying - nothing.
