Where are the men?

The other night, several friends and I decided to go for a swim in my pool. It started getting late and everyone else seemed to have gone home except for us.
It was a group of friends consisting of 3 females and 1 male. We decided to play the "Truth" game. This is where someone asks a personal question and everyone has to answer honestly. YIKES!!!
Well, as our little game ensued, we noticed 2 men come and sit at the other end of the pool. We wanted more people involved in our discussion so we invited them over to join us. It was quite interesting to say the least.
The game of truth evolved to explicit sexual questions. Not that any of us wanted these men, we just wanted a different perspective on how men think.
One of the men was separated from his wife and desperately wanted her back. The other man was quite worldly when it came to woman. Eeh, either that or he was full of it.
One of the girls asked them where a good place to meet people (for dating) was and surprisingly enough, the man who claimed to have a way with da ladies replied, "At the store, library, and restaurants." To this, I replied, "What, you just go up to a stranger and ask for their phone number?" Yes, he replied.....
Im sorry, I called BS!!! Never have I known anyone who was asked out at the store, library or a restaurant. I think that people are naturally in their own little "bubble" at these locations and are rarely disturbed if at all by someone requesting a phone number AND if this did occur, who would give their number to a complete stranger???
My question to anyone who may read my babbling is simple... Where and how can you meet people AND what is your technique? How do you approach members of the opposite sex and how often are you successful? Where are the men who are looking for their special lady???
