We are moving to BR. We would like to find an apt that's safe, quiet, washer/dryer in unit. It doesn't need to be super fancy, just clean. Our price range for a 2 bedroom is up to $1150 max unless there's tons included (like cable, phone, utilities).

Also, we would like to be close to LSU but not too close where students would be living in the complex (love the students but not their noise/parties).

We're coming down to look in a month. Places we should see? Places we should avoid?

Here are some we're thinking about (in no order):
1. Citiscape at Essen
2. Bristol Place
3. The Park at Bluebonnet
4. Longridge
5. Gates at Citiplace
6. Tuscany Villas
7. Lakeside Villas

Help! We've only been to BR once so this is all so new...

You should definitely be able to get all the amenities and more within your price range. Most of the ones you listed have requirements that you earn at least 3x the rent. That is to keep college kids out.

Citiscape at Essen was nice for a long time, but I have heard bad things about the management that took over about two years ago. But definitely worth a look.

Gates at Citiplace is the most centrally located.

I wouldn't recommend Longridge. They are older.

Make sure to read reviews online.

I would go with Bluebonnet or anything in the area of those apts. its a very nice area with lots of conveniences in walking distance and there is a very big mall about a mile down. I have done some work in those apts. so I know they are pretty nice and the management is friendly. If I were you the Perkins/Bluebonnet area would be up my alley. Essen is nice but the main stretch is always too busy, maybe somewhere off of Jefferson hwy. near old hammond hwy., but all the other areas I would avoid. I've lived here most my life and have worked in apts. all over the area so this is under good advisement. Good luck.
