We have been looking at the Murano for a while, but we have finally decided we don't want to spend that much money on a vehicle. With the difference in price between it and the two listed below we can cover most of a trip to Ireland. Good trade off, I'd say.

We have been looking at a smaller SUV, and have come down to the CR-V or the Rogue.

Price and features are very close so it's a toss up in those areas.

Anyone have thoughts about which they'd go with?

Really appreciate the help.

Tek

Go with the Honda, Nissan I believe has been bought out by Renault. I could be mistaken, but I know they are somehow joined at the hip. Any grouping with Renault means bad times are ahead. I mean they are French, thats all I would need to know!

Go with the CR-V, its been around the block and is a proven good vehicle. The Rogue is new, yet to prove itself.

A "Plan B" for you, Tek-Freek . . . have you considered buying the vehicle you prefer but one year old?

There are some great deals out there and you can let someone else take the initial depreciation hit.

I've looked. Muranos don't seem to depreciate much! Appreciate the idea.

Not a buy-out, an alliance. One that was completed in 1999. I would think that if things were going to head south they would have by now...

In fact the monetary influx given to Nissan by Renault had a positive effect in that it helped result in Nissan's turnaround.

You're absolutely right on, Tek-Freek,

No "in demand" vehicle will depreciate as much as lesser vehicles but the deals are out there. My neighbor is an expert at finding great vehicle deals, NOT me. He always leans towards private sales in the "over 55" areas.

Good Luck

My wife and I recently traded in our '03 Civic for a used '07 CR-V with 18k on it. We brought it just a few days before the turn of the new year as the dealer lot was marking down alot of their inventory. We got a good deal on it, and so far we like it, the wife i think is totally in love with it.

Didn't Renault have a car called the Alliance in the '80s, sounds like a conspiracy to me.
