Surprised it took 'em this long to give it up. I think they were trying to make one more push with the Kizashi but just didn't have the means to market it worth a damn.
That's a shame. Their midsize model was a very well built sedan with very good handling for a FWD car. The Swift sold in Europe and Asia is a nice looking hatch and is fairly popular. Their mistake was using Daewoo cars here instead of their own products.
Well darn. I thought they had the best bang for the buck out there. Fit and trip on the most expensive models looked superior to Toyota and others at half the price !
Now, I wonder what this will do to the aftermarket? My Samurai is a great machine, looking to build more, with later 2.3 engines. I guess hard to say.?

Definitely. Just got back from a couple weeks over in Germany, and the Swift is quite the cool lil' car. If they advertised it right, it could've done pretty well. They're supposed to be a great little hot hatch, so much so that all the rental agencies I checked out for Nurburgring use them quite extensively for their entry vehicles. I doubt their profit margin on them would be enough to float the company, though.

I had a suzuki reno, small 2006 four door. Got into an accident and messed up the front end pretty good. The problem? They eliminated the car line 2 years prior (it was just a rebagged dewooo anyway) and there were few of the cars in junk yards, so the parts were hard to come by. I toyed with buying a kizashi but I didn't want them to stop selling those the next year as well and let it's value plummet, so i wrote off the brand all together.
I have not looked into Suzuki, not sure if it is my fault or theirs. Still, it is sad to see it leaving this shore.
