Did anybody catch the Nationwide race at Gateway this weekend? I watched it in lieu of the Sprint Cup since they were off.

Just to get you caught up, Brad Kesolowski had pretty much dominated the race and led the most laps. Carl Edwards was a big player especially in the last quarter of the race, having battled Brad and swapped the lead several times.

With about 3 laps to go and Brad leading and Carl second on a restart, they battled to the last lap side by side. Brad then tried to do a bump and run on Carl, which looked fairly tame, and Carl was able to recover quickly and stay alongside Brad. In the last half of the last lap, Brad got in front of Carl then coming towards the checkers, Carl turned left into Brad, knocking Brad into the outside wall then the inside wall where Brad got smashed into by several other cars. A really bad wreck.

Carl won the race and basically said that he wouldn't allow Brad to "steal" it from him.

Personally, I think (and always have) that Carl is a real a** and coward. He has a real temper and try's to portray himself as a good guy, but also plays the bad guy.

Carl wrecking Brad was way over the top....again. Sure Brad probably deserves some of the stuff he has been getting back from the veterans, but the thing with Carl and also Denny has gone too far.

I doubt if NASCAR will do much of anything. But they should suspend Carl for a couple Nationwide races and put him on probation on both the NW and Sprint Cup. Carl should also pay the owners of all of those wrecked cars. I think what Brad did was more of the "have at it boys" variety of racing, but to be fair, warn Brad to stay away from Carl and Denny.

Rubbing paint or bumping is one thing, but deliberately putting a competitor into the wall is dangerous and outright cowardly.

Agreed Carl is a complete ass. He said steal the race when Brad had the dominate car.

It was a blatant mugging by Carl.......didn't even look like Brad was trying to block, he was holding his line. IMO Nascar needs a new rule.....when the checkers are out if your the leader you hold your line, no blocking, if your in 2nd you either have the hp to pass him cleanly or not. The race should be won by who got into and out of turn 4 better. That wasn't racing at Gateway , that was a road rage incident.

I like that "last lap rule".

I think Carl may have been able to pass Brad without the intentional crash. Brad had said during the red flag that he thought Carl was formidable on the restart and it was only 3 quick laps.

It would have been one heck of a drag race and photo finish if the "veteran" Carl could control his temper.

I believe you made a typo. Didn't you mean to write ROID rage? The aw shucks, cousin carl facade has totally worn thin, he's a major league jackhole. The "made you flinch" fake throw at Kenseth a couple years ago showed who he really is. Only the total jerk high school jock guys do that.

Perfectly stated.

first, brad raced carl cleanly for several laps that they ran side by side, until the last lap. brad knew that they only way he could beat edwards was in fact to bump him out of the way on the last lap. as for what happened in turn four, carl held his line, and brad moved up from what i could see to block, but the carl did turn down on brad and spun him.

these two have had a lot of bad blood between them for the last three years, and most of it is because of brad and his rough driving as a rookie. one day brad will learn that when he has the points lead, especially one of 227 points, you take what you are given, and that second place and losing no points, because he led the most laps, as opposed to fourteenth place and losing 59 points. brad was the aggressor here, carl retaliated. besides it was entirely possible that brad could have beaten carl off turn four anyway, but we will never know.

Sadly this nonsense has been going on for too long between these two jerks and NASCAR has done nothing meaningful to either of them. Sadly the day will come when some one gets badly injured or killed. Probably another driver or spectator.

Maybe its time to sit these two down for a month long ban from all NASCAR sanctioned events, but sad to say crashes and controversy bring in TV ratings and TV ratings bring in the $.

Don't expect NASCAR to take any reasonable actions till the crash and bash fest goes way too far.

But at least Brad has his daddy being interviewed and defending him.

Brad and his daddy
Harvick and his wife.

What a pair !

You guys said you are fed up with Carl Edwards?
I'll say the same about Brad Keslowski.

When he drives rough ( past races) he proclaims that's just racing and the other guy should quit complaining.

What goes around comes around.
If you can't take it, don't dish it !

Mark Martin said something similar a few years ago after crashing out of yet another restrictor plate race. "They (fans) just come to see us wreck."
