What do you mean by Old West Austin? I think of 35 to the East, 360 to West, 183 to the North and Town Lake to South. Hard to find a house for under $500K, the appeal is that houses are varied, lots of mature yards/trees, lots of native/local businesses and lack of big boxes. Population is varied- young (college) and old (long time residents). It's a great place to live and worth every (last) dollar!

I don't know the streets, but it was said to me that Old West Austin was a great neighborhood. Is there another name for it??? I have been trying to find something about it on Craigslist.com, but no luck there. Help!

OWANA - Old West Austin Neighborhood Association
Gotcha...not "old, west austin" but Old West Austin.
bounded by Lamar, Town Lake, Mopac and Enfield....well, I think what I said about it being varied in architecture, mature trees and landscaping, local businesses and pedestrian/bike friendly stand. There are more apartments and townhouse type residences there than you would find in other parts of West Austin. I love it, but $$$

Clarksville is a more specific area within the OWANA boundaries.

bounded by Lamar, Town Lake, Mopac and Enfield....well, I think what I said about it being varied in architecture, mature trees and landscaping, local businesses and pedestrian/bike friendly stand. There are more apartments and townhouse type residences there than you would find in other parts of West Austin. I love it, but $$$
