It is kind of funny, like peer pressure for adults - some areas will have lots of lights, and just a street over, not so much. When one or two houses get 'light fanatics', the people around them feel like maybe they should put up lights, too. Then you have 4 or 5 houses. And do on....

For Halloween, I think we had around 300 or 350 trick or treaters this year...it looked like 6th street for kids.

Make sure you hit Savin Hill Lane in Circle C. There is a little culdesac tucked in there that does a theme with all the neighbors every year. Right after 9/11 was one of the most amazing displays I have ever seen at Christmas.

Yeah, we have to set expectations. A previous poster is right, there are pockets. It's not like homes in Dallas in the Highland Park area, with amazing lights everywhere. You'll find pockets. Austin just isn't as into Christmas as Dallas, Houston, or most other major cities.

Not sure what you mean by Western Oaks, per my experience it is a small area near MoPac, as per GoggleMaps, most of the are North of Circle C is Legend Oaks, along Escarpment Blvd. Which is a great place to live.

Western Oaks is in between Circle C and Legend Oaks. Also part of it is east of Legend Oaks - and stretches from William Cannon (the older part) all the way down to Slaughter, around Dick Nichols Park and Mills Elementary.

I have never found it to be overly crowded. A lot of Circle C homeowners have pools of their own or friends with pools. We only went to the neighborhood pool a couple of times this year because we are good friends with a couple of families that have pools. Circle C is also building another pool complex at the corner of Spruce Canyon and La Crosse right next to Clayton Elementary.

Legend Oaks has a pool. Are you considering that neighborhood? If you end up in a neighborhood without a pool, you might want to consider joining Lifetime Fitness. The have a great indoor and outdoor pool with slides.
Do you happen to know how much Lifetime Fitness costs for a family membership? I looked online but it doesn't say. That's a good idea!

It is probably in the range of $125/month, I am guessing.

We pay $61/mo. for each, or $122 for two. But I will be the first to say I don't know exactly how much for a family.

Thanks! I may go with the Y - it's $50 cheaper a month, but we'll see.
